Battling This Heat Wave Can Be Dangerous

There's no doubt the heat can be dangerous. You are urged to stay in air conditioning if possible when the temperatures soar like this. We checked around area hospitals Monday to see how many heat related cases have come in. There were none Monday in Beaufort County, but four people were treated and released for a heat-related illness in Craven County. Folks at Lenoir Memorial Hospital tell us they see an average of five heat-related cases a week in the summer. No was treated in Martin County Monday, while Nash County has had 11 cases of heat exhaustion all between the dates of June 22 and July 21. On the Outer Banks, four people have been treated and released in the last three days. And in Onslow County, officials report two cases of heat related illness Monday.
