Worker in Stable Condition After Shooting

After being shot by a man getting admitted into the Cherry Hospital in Goldsboro, a health care worker is now in stable condition. The incident happened Friday afternoon, when Police say the assailant, Clifton Gentry, had his handcuffs removed during processing at the hospital, which is when he grabbed the gun from an Onslow County Deputy. Police say Gentry shot William Shelton Denning, and then committed suicide with the gun. Goldsboro Police, the State Bureau of Investigation, and the State Department of Health and Human Services, which operates the hospital, are investigating the shooting to see if any policies need to be changed.
