Get ready for a detour if you are traveling between southern Beaufort County and Pitt County.
Department of Transportation officials will close part of NC 33 running from the Beaufort County line, through parts of Grimesland, in Pitt County. Officials say the road closure won't be quick either, as they expect to keep it closed for the entire work week, from Monday, July 25th, until Friday, July 29th. A 6.5 mile detour will be in place, so remember to give yourself some extra time to get to your destination, should you have to use this road. Officials say they will be replacing failed crosslines at four locations on the highway.
