Onslow County Sheriff's deputies say they arrested two women responsible for a number of identity scams and fraud cases.

Deputies arrested 28 year old Shelda Lynn Askew, and 34 year old Chairroll Waits and charged the two with a number of charges ranging from worthless checks, to financial identity fraud, to obtaining property by false pretenses, to conspiracy. Some of the charges stem from cases as old as 1997.

Deputies say Askew had nearly 11 identities complete with drivers licenses or identification cards from our state and Pennsylvania, and had scams with the IRS, Department of Social Services, churches, banks, and local businesses. In total there were 105 criminal charges against the two women. Deputies also add the case is still ongoing, and more charges could follow.
