Skin Screening for Residents

A hot day like Saturday is enticing to most sun bathers searching for a bronze tan.

However venturing outdoors in July's scorching conditions can set you up for a lifetime of pain. According to oncologists at the Beaufort County Hospital, skin cancer is one of the fastest growing forms of cancer claiming the lives of Eastern Carolinians. At a free skin cancer clinic at the Lifestyles Medical Fitness Center branch of Beaufort County Hospital Saturday,; medical professionals checked nooks and crannies of concerned citizens who sought to learn about possible damage they may have on their skin.

Dermatologists say the best ways to protect you skin are to either cover it with clothing or creams and sunblocks that not only provide protection from ultra violet b rays but u-v-a rays as well.
