Before you flip open that cell phone you might want to think again. A respected neurosurgeon says using hand-held devices can be more dangerous than smoking.

According to the U.K.'s Independent newspaper, the study, headed by Dr. Vini Khurana, shows there is evidence that using handsets for 10 years or more can double the risk of brain cancer.

He adds that this link will be definitely proven in the next decade.

The scientist is urging industry and governments to make decisive steps to curb the potential health impacts

What are they going to come up with next to get people to stop using their cell phones. My gosh people, we drink water everyday pretty much that is polluted. Don't walk outside because if you take a breath, you are going to get some disease. I think some warnings are nonsense.

This is similar to the lifecycle of cigarettes. They were a new and indispensable creation back at the start of the 20th century. Folks knew the dangers back then and had very similar responses by consumers at the time. Unfortunately, 80 years later, when folks in mass die of cancer resulting from cell phone use, they'll sue and cripple the telecoms like they have done to cigarette manufacturers claiming that they didn't know the dangers and that corporate America obfuscated the truth. Shame on us... again.

This is old news revisited. This same info was made available a number of years ago. Why do you think phone manufacturers started angling the antenna away from the head to increase the distance. Microwaves, radio frequency, radar or any other high frequency energy can cook you if the power is high enough and the distance close enough. The Navy's 60 Bravo shipboard radar will literally cook you if you are in front of it during operation, 1 reason it is on the mast.
