A woman who worked for the Wake County school system is accused of stealing more than one million dollars from the school transportation department. The State Bureau of Investigation arrested 42-year-old Carol Dail Finch of the Beaufort County city of Washington, Tuesday. It's the first arrest in an investigation of how the system may have been defrauded of more than two million dollars. Finch is charged with obtaining property by false pretenses. She's the former budget and technology analyst for Wake County schools' transportation department. S-B-I agents think Finch advised employees of a vendor company to submit false invoices for items that were never delivered. The arrest warrant says the company then used the school system's money to buy items for Finch and other people. Six school employees have resigned, and two managers at the company were fired. More charges are expected.
