Father Headed To Prison For Burning Daughter In Microwave

A jury in Galveston, Texas, has sentenced a young father to 25 years in prison for severely burning his infant daughter when he put her in a microwave and turned it on for up to 20 seconds.

Jurors deliberated for 6 1/2 hours over two days before sentencing Joshua Mauldin Wednesday. They also fined him $10,000.

The jury rejected Mauldin's claims he was insane when he stuffed his daughter Ana, then 2 months old, in the microwave and convicted him of felony injury to a child.

Prosecutors had asked for a life sentence.

Mauldin's attorney asked jurors to consider Mauldin's long history of mental illness and give him probation so he could be treated outside prison.

This is totally unbelievable. How could anyone harm an innocent child. . Mentally insane??Bull!!! There are losts of people out there with mental problems who would never even think of doing such a thing!! That is just an excuse he and his attorney used to try and save his butt. 25 years. Not enough. Won't he be out in maybe 18 years if he is on good behavior?? All of us who have kids know..18 years go by pretty fast. How can anyone justify such an act with time in prison? Inmates have it made!! 3 meals a day, all the tv they want to watch, a roof over there head, free medical care, etc. These days prison is a picnic compared to what it used to be. The inmates have more rights than we as civilians do. It's a good thing I wasnt that judge..or maybe it isnt. He would not be in prison waiting to get out that's for sure. On the other hand, other inmates have a way of taking care of people who hurt children. He may get what he deserves there

Wanda, there will be a cost for wrong doing on judgement day and revenges is the Lords not ours. Evil is real and evil has been in beginning of times. What you fail to understand is that God IS a forgiving God and states in the Bible that, if any Man calls on my Name and Repents of his sins and ask for forgiveness then He(God) will FORGIVE. Again there is only "ONE UNFORGIVEABLE SIN"(Matthew 12:31-32) NOT SOME. My God is not a liar so I have to defend my God. Slinging the passage, won't do that, but defending of the Word, I will. Also the Bible is not to be argured.Don't take my word for it. Study the Word and you can believe the Promises that God has made for us. Also God is not the arthur of Confusion. What is worse than blasphemy of the Holy Ghost??? This little one(baby) does not need forgiveness to heal her, for she already is the Lord's and he definetly has his arms around her. She is well taken care of. God and his Angels has it all under control. Trust Him. Thanks, LB in Ohio

I would like to clarify my earlier response -God is... and I do not want to cause a battle with other christian friends.Bj,I read your post. Evil is real and at this magitude of this abuse I spoke my heart. Yes, this father has a right to repentence...but he will reap. What people fail to understand is that we are all forgiven but God will hold all of us accountable for any choices that are made because the holy bible is made available in any format. Some sins are unforgivable in the sight of the Lord. Please don't take one passage and sling it at me. We can agree that the Bible is true and one must "reap what is sowed" This father will reap this promise-Yes, the power of forgiveness will heal this little girl's heart. Repentence is free but at the end it does have a spiritual cost. This father did not blast the Holy Spirit but worst he took a precious soul and tried to destroy her. This battle does not belong to you or I. But, the Lord. I say Some PEOPLE will burn in hell>>>>

I agree there needs to be severe punishment for this act. Precious little babies that can't even defend theirselves. As for wanda miller in Kenansville, I don't know what Bible you read and What God you serve, but my God, Jesus Christ, states in the Holy Bible that there is only "ONE Unforgiveable" sin and that is Blaspheming against the Holy Ghost. Study the word. Not defending this man but I do defend, My Savior in his Promises.....

Janice, you are correct if law were like some of the other countries, and was inforce this would show people that the law will react on them. Today people are in prison, but it is not a true punishment, when all your rights and freedom are gone is when people suffer the most, prisoners today have that and more, some return to it because there is nowhere else to go, or find a friend. This guy needs to be oil down and left in the sun for about three days, and then ask him does this hurt if so what do you think that child went through that you stuck in that microwave. Let, people feel the pain that they put others through and alot of this when it gets out to people the crime will slow or nearly stop. That would be a starting point.
