Harry Potter Helps Fight Illiteracy

There's magic between the pages of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter books. A sprinkle of suspense, a dash of darkness, along with the flair of fantasy have all been fused together to create a spell that's getting more children reading. At the Brown library in Washington, library workers say the Harry Potter series and other novels like it are getting more pages turning with every new chapter. It's a fun way to learn for readers of all ages and a big weapon in the fight against illiteracy. Nearly one and a half million of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince books have been pre-ordered before the midnight over the counter release.
