A Kentucky couple was gunned down outside their home and their neighbor is accused of killing them. Police say an ongoing dispute led to the deaths of 47 year old Alan Tackett and his 30 year old wife Lisa. Her 45-year-old uncle, Berry Hall, is accused of killing them with a rifle.
The Tacketts and Berry Hall live right next door to each other, but their family says the three were not friends. However they never thought it would come to this.
Lisa Tackett's mother says the couple and Hall started arguing several years ago. "My daughter's husband had a few words over an old dog one time," said Gladys Harvis.
Neighbors say the latest fight was over the driveway. They say Hall thought the couple was blocking his side. Police say Hall used a rifle and shot both Alan and Lisa Tackett outside his home on his porch. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers arrested Hall without any problems and took him to jail. Investigators are still trying to figure out what went wrong.
"Kentucky State Police is continually investigating and obtaining evidence at the scene, and we'll continue doing that until the scene is cleared," said police spokesman Scott Hopkins.
Lisa Tackett leaves behind six children under the age of nine. Family members say four were home when the shooting happened. Their grandmother doesn't know if they'll ever recover.
"She was a wonderful person, a caring person, she loved her children and took care of her children," Harvis said.
Now the children will only have memories of their mother. Police removed the children from the home and they're with family members.
Berry Hall is charged with two counts of murder and is being held in the Floyd County Detention Center.
