It's something many students look forward to, the spelling bee, getting the chance to compete and hoping to make it to the National Competition. But in Pitt County some students were disappointed when they found out they missed the event.
The regional spelling bee was originally slated for March 22, but due to the Easter holiday it was rescheduled for March 15.
A letter was sent out to the Pitt County Schools as a reminder, but the memo failed to mention that there had been a change to the date. Therefore, many participants were not notified.
Pitt county schools have apologized for the breakdown in communication and now students who missed out on the opportunity are looking forward to next year.
