Ferry System Prepared for Irene

Last year, it was a scramble getting visitors off Ocracoke Island as Hurricane Alex surprised many parts of the Outer Banks. A scramble and caught off guard because ferries, the only way to get on and off the island, were overloaded due to tourists being evacuated at the last minute. But officials with the ferry in Swan Quarter say this year they're prepared to reroute boats and do whatever it takes to get people off the island if necessary. County officials had a meeting today to go over emergency evacuation plans.
