Many Vacationer's Not Worried About Irene

On one of the Atlantic's most exposed shorelines, many are not worried in the least about Irene. Its day's away from the end of their vacations, and folks on Topsail Island were soaking in the surf and sun Friday. This barrier island in Onslow and Pender Counties has seen direct hits or glancing blows from most of the storms since 1985. But, visitors say they won't be worried until local leaders say they should be. Not even builders and new cottage owners from a recent construction boom are fretting Irene yet. They are covered by insurance.
