Quick Thinking Saves Lives and Business

Video will be available shortly.

Wilson fire officials praise the quick actions of several employees at a ball bearing manufacturing plant.

Fire broke out at the Carolina Forge Company located on Old Stantonsburg Road, just after 8 a.m. Tuesday morning. The fire happened in an oil vat that's used for cooling down ball bearings after they're made.

Fire Chief Don Oliver says even after the building's sprinkler system was activated, several employees helped keep the fire contained to one area. Most employees were evacuated and no injuries were reported.

Two firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion.
