Bertie County commissioners are questioning the spending habits of some Bertie County school officials, and now the new superintendent is speaking out. Doctor Nettie Collins-Hart became superintendent of Bertie County schools in July and says from the financial information she's reviewed and the conversation she's conducted with employees, nothing illegal or unethical has turned up. Collins-Hart feels if the financial scrutiny continues, damage could be done to the academic climate of Bertie County schools. But one county commissioner is calling some of the purchases by school officials unwise. Bertie County commissioners are still waiting on additional explanations on more of the expenditures in questions from the school district. They expect to have them soon.
