Some folks were feeling the squeeze at one area beach this Fourth of July.
While there's still plenty of room to spread out on Topsail Island, there's not a lot of room to park. That's because of a boom in construction making it tougher on the busiest holiday weekends to get access to the surf.
It’s even crowded on the mainland behind Topsail, with lots of commercial development straining the two-lane roads carrying holiday visitors, but some say even with the growth, Topsail is still more family-friendly than better known beaches in the Carolinas.
