Popular Day for Boaters

A lot of people were hanging out on the water Monday for the Fourth of July.

Boaters from all around the area were found cruising up and down the Pamlico River in Washington. The holiday usually brings an increase in boat traffic creating a floating traffic jam in some places, and navigating can be tough with hundreds of other boats out there.

One Coast Guard auxiliary officer says he was happy to see most boaters complying with the law and keeping things safe for their passengers out in the water.
