HUTCHINSON, Kan. (AP) A 28-year-old Kansas man who was
convicted of putting two young children into a hot clothes dryer was caught Monday after he missed a sentencing hearing.
Aron Pritchard was convicted of child abuse last week. He missed a hearing Monday on a possible sentence.
The Hutchinson News reports on its Web site that Pritchard was brought back to Reno County and is being held on $500,000 bond until sentencing next month.
He was found at a hospital in Stafford County.
Pritchard was convicted of child abuse and aggravated endangerment for putting two children in a clothes dryer. A 3-year-old boy suffered second-degree burns in the 2006 incident.
Pritchard claimed he was giving the children a ride in the dryer for fun.
District Attorney Keith Schroeder says prosecutors will seek a prison term of up to 10 years. That sentencing hearing is scheduled for April 11.
