Sunday turned into a traffic nightmare for travelers on Interstate 95 in Halifax County following a hit and run accident that left one person dead. State Highway Patrol says both southbound lanes near the Northampton Halifax county line were closed from two o'clock until about six. Details of the accident are unclear, but in addition to the fatality, three other people were taken to the hospital. Officials say they found the vehicle the suspect was driving behind a residence in Roanoke Rapids, but the driver remains on the run.
