More Shrimp Regulations?

Should more North Carolina inshore waters close to trawling and should there be a recreational limit for shrimp harvest? Those are the questions a series of public meetings around Eastern Carolina hope to answer. Since January of 2004, an advisory group made of up of several groups, including commercial and recreational fishermen, have been meeting to discuss conserving different fisheries. Last year alone, 4,800,000 pounds of shrimp were brought to state docks, valued at $9,400,000. There are several meeting locations and dates:
July 18th, in New Bern at the Craven County agricultural extension center, July 20th in Englehard at the Hyde-Davis business enterprise center,
July 21st at the One Festival Park in Manteo, July 26th at the the Duke Marine Lab auditorium in Beaufort, and August 2nd in Washington at the Department of Environment and Natural Resources' regional office at the Washington Square Mall.
