Ducks In the Mall For Kids

Amidst all the jingles of change and cash registers at the Colonial Mall in Greenville, a surprisingly new sound was heard inside there Saturday, a duck call.

No, not a real duck, but a mascot duck was dancing, and quacking up a storm trying to get people involved in the Duck Derby, a fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Pitt County. The derby is a rubber duck race on the fourth of July that starts at the Greene Street Bridge in the Town Commons of Greenville, and races along the waterfront there on this fourth of July. You can purchase a duck for only 5 dollars, but the winner of the race will pocket 300 times that, 1500 dollars. But the kids are the real winners because of your generosity.

The race starts at 7 p.m. during the festivities at the Town Commons this fourth of July in Greenville. You can still purchase ducks online at www.bgcpittt.org, or at the Boys and Girls Club tent at the Town Commons on Monday.
