The sounds of exploding fireworks can cause you four legged family member to have a panic attack. The popping or loud boom noises that are created after fireworks are set off, has the tendency to cause fear in some dogs.

Dr. Linda Kuhn is a veterinarian at East Carolina Veterinary in Greenville. She says for young dogs simply turn a deaf ear when they whine about fireworks. Older dogs can be given medicine to calm their nerves.

Experts say it's always a good idea to check with your vet before giving your pet any kind of medication.
