Jailers Fired

The Craven County Sheriff called them model employees. Now, he says those same men have been fired for assaulting an inmate in the county jail. Sheriff Jerry Monette says Robert Jones Jr., Brian Ordiway and Randy Hall were fired from their positions as jailers at the Craven County Jail for what he says was an overuse of their authority. Monette says inmate Tye Drew started the incident Sunday night, but wouldn't comment on specifics other than to say the jailers took their authority too far in the punishment of Drew. Monette called in the S.B.I to look into the case. Sheriff Monette says none of the jailers who were fired had any prior incidents at the jail.
