Fossil Pile Helps Education

Amongst the food, music, and fun at Sunday's Riverwalk Festival was also the opportunity to learn.

The Aurora Fossil Museum from Beaufort County displayed a fossil pile of Miocene age fossils donated by the local PCS Phosphate mine. The dirt here that's full of the remains of ancient fish, corals, shells, sharks, whales and other mysteries provides the opportunity for Eastern Carolinian's young and old to learn about the importance of fossil finding and how they benefit our environment.

You might see the fossil pile on display at other Eastern Carolina festival's this season, but you can always find out more at Beaufort County's own -- Aurora Fossil Museum.
