Scam Targeting Military Men and Woman

An Internet scam is targeting several banks and credit unions, some here in Eastern Carolina that serve America's military men and women. Both Marine and Navy Federal Credit Unions are among the financial institutions that say someone is trying to get customers to hand over personal information and account numbers, in a scam called "phishing." Marine Federal, which has its international headquarters in Jacksonville, is warning its members not to respond to an official-looking e-mail, that wants pin numbers and other information that could be used to steal from accounts. Navy Federal Credit Union, and Bank of America, which handles government credit card accounts, are also reporting similar scam attempts since last week.
