OLF Opponents To Attend Conference

New developments in the fight to keep the Navy's proposed outlying landing field out of Washington and Beaufort counties.

Opponents of the outlying landing field have also planned to voice their views on the base re-alignments and closures in the east, but told WITN they have been told they will not have an opportunity to speak at an upcoming meeting. County officials say they still plan to attend a press conference addressing BRAC and the effects on military communities in the east in Charlotte June 28th.

The Navy still wants to buy 33,000 acres near Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge so jets from Virginia Beach and Cherry Point Marine Corps Air Station in Havelock could practice nighttime training landings.
