High Speed Chase Kills One

Authorities say a high speed chase in Greenville ended in death.

Police officials say they got a call of a strong arm robbery in front of the Wal-mart store in Greenville, and the description of a car leaving the scene of the crime. One of the patrolling police cars saw the vehicle that matched the description on Hooker Road and tried to pull it over, and that's when the chase started.

Officials say the fleeing car was driven by Shonte Nicole Sutton, and that she ran a stop sign and hit a car driven by Jason David Lloyd at the intersection of Howell and Evans Street. Sutton's passenger, who is unidentified at this point, was killed at the scene, while both Sutton, and Lloyd were transported to Pitt County Memorial Hospital. Greenville police are still investigating both the crash, and the armed robbery that started it all. Both Sutton and Lloyd were treated and released from the hospital.
