Three Drownings in Four Days

Video will be available shortly.

Four days, three drownings in Onslow County have some there calling for a new push to get out an important message, that the water can kill. Two people drowned Monday, including 17-year-old Michael G. Jarman, Jr. at Camp Lejeune's Onslow Beach. Jarman went underwater and was not located until Tuesday morning, following an intense search by Marines and the Coast Guard. Then, Monday evening, Onslow County sheriffs say a two-year-old fell into a hot tub. That toddler was revived at the scene, but later died at Onslow Memorial Hospital. The local Red Cross chapter is once again urging everyone to heed safety rules any time you go near the water. Investigations are ongoing in all three of those drownings, including last Friday's training mishap at Camp Lejeune's pool that killed 21-year-old Private First Class Brian Smith of Georgia.
