Fire Departments on Stand Down for the Day

Video will be available shortly.

Fire departments across the country and here in Eastern Carolina were on "Stand Down" Tuesday. The "Stand Down" is part of an effort to enhance firefighters' safety training and increase public awareness about the dangers of the job. Since May 1, over 50 firefighters across the country have lost their lives in the line of duty. While the City of Greenville hasn't experienced a fatality in over twenty years, last year one of their own was seriously burned during a training exercise.
