Some education administrators are concerned about what North Carolina does or doesn’t require in the way of criminal background checks for prospective teachers. It's one of only four states that don’t require fingerprints from would-be teachers that can be compared to a nationwide F.B.I. database. There's no statewide policy on background checks at all, leaving it up to school districts. But critics say that gives too much autonomy to local schools and puts children at risk. What do you think?
