K-9 Officer Protection

It may sound strange, but if you physically attack or are even held responsible for the death of a police K-9 you could face some serious charges. Over the weekend a pit bull went after a police dog in Kinston. Authorities say K-9 dogs have the same police status as their human partner. Injuring one can be quite costly resulting in civil lawsuits. In the Kinston case, the pit bull had to be killed. Officials say the owner of the pit bull will not face charges.
