A voluntary recall is in effect for "FUN 'N SAFE" Magnetic Dart Boards sold at Family Dollar stores.
The Charlotte-based company and the Consumer Product Safety Commission are asking for the recall because small magnets at the ends of darts can detach. The concern is young children will swallow or aspirate the magnets. If ingested, the magnets can attract each other and cause potentially deadly intestinal blockages or tears.
A quarter million boards were sold. No injuries have been reported.
The magnetic dart board is about 15 inches wide. It has a black, white, green and red bullseye checkered design and was sold with six 4-inch long magnetic darts. The darts magnetically adhere to the dart board when thrown. “Made in China” is embossed on the back of the board.
It was sold exclusively at Family Dollar stores nationwide from January 2001 through January 2008 for about $5.
You can take the board and darts to Family Dollar for a refund. For more information, including contact information, click on the related link below.
