More than 700 employees of the Imperial Sugar refinery, as well
as relatives and friends of the victims of the February 7th blast,
gathered today at the Savannah Civic Center.
A hardhat was hung in the centers of 10 wreaths of white
carnations at the service, which came a day after the toll climbed
to 10 with the death of a severely burned employee.
Investigators say the explosion was fueled by airborne sugar
dust, but they have not yet determined what ignited the dust.
Thirteen burn victims remain hospitalized in critical condition.
Two others are in serious condition.
