Rodanthe Pier Damaged

An Outer Banks fishing staple is stuck with a huge mess, following the May 6 nor’easter that ripped across Eastern Carolina. Several pilings were knocked loose from the Rodanthe pier, and 100 yards of protective dune were flattened following the late week storm. Pier manager T.J.Cary says strong tides washed away his asphalt parking lot. During Hurricane Isabel, the Kitty Hawk Pier was cut in half, Jeanette's Pier was completely washed out, and the Nags Head Fishing pier Lost its pier house and restaurant, which has since been rebuilt.
