Beaufort County Fireman Dies in Wreck

There has been another fatal accident in Eastern Carolina this Memorial Day weekend, this time the deceased is a Beaufort County fireman.

The flags are all at half staff, at the Bunyan Volunteer Fire Department honoring 51 year old David Brown. Highway Patrol Troopers say around noon on Saturday Brown was driving on Highway 264 towards Wilson, when he may have fallen asleep because he drove off the road, and struck a tree. Brown was airlifted to Pitt County Memorial Hospital where he later died. And now his brothers at the fire department remember a good friend and protector.

Troopers say speed and alcohol were not factors in this fatal crash. He leaves behind a wife, Linda. Hillside Funeral Service will be performing all the ceremonies.
