The Defense Department released its BRAC recommendations Friday morning. Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota is one of 33 major proposed closures. It is home to 29
B-1B Bombers, half the Nation's fleet of the aircraft, and the state's second largest employer. North Carolina, thankfully, is not faring the same fate. The state actually did fairly well in the suggested cuts, losing only 568 troops and gaining 307 civilian postings.
