Recommendation Is to Drop Charges Against Marine

Congressman Walter B. Jones told WITN Friday, that the officer presiding over Second Lieutenant Ilario Pantano's pretrial hearing at Camp Lejeune has recommended all charges be dropped. He's the Marine accused of murdering two Iraqis. Congressman Jones talked to Pantano's mother. "I'm so excited I actually spoke to his mother about an hour ago, she lives in New York City and we had a wonderful conversation. She is happy, I'm happy and I thank the good Lord for it." The recommendation has been filed, but there's no word on when it might be ruled on. Pantano has maintained from the beginning that he was acting in self-defense when he killed the two Iraqis.
