Governor Mike Easley kicked off a celebration honoring NASCAR founder "Big Bill" France with some excitement. The governor drove in the same car he wrecked two years ago at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord with similar results. Easley sped out of the executive mansion driveway in Jimmie Johnson's number 48. He quickly lost control and spun off onto a curb, narrowly missing another car and a pole. It was a close call, but nobody was injured and no cars were injured.
