Baseball Field Dedicated in Greenville

An eventful and historic day for the East Carolina University baseball program, beginning with Saturday's big stadium dedication.

Folks gathered for an official ribbon cutting for the Clark-LeClair Stadium. It's named for former ECU coach Keith LeClair, who is battling Lou Gehrig's disease. Sharing the honors with him is the stadium's biggest financial contributor, Bill Clark of Bill Clark homes. Clark donated one-point-five million dollars toward the 11-million dollar project. Several speakers graced the podium during the ceremony, Athletic Director Terry Holland and baseball coach Randy Mazey to name two. Folks remarked how wonderful it was that coach LeClair was on hand for the day's events. Another special man, Les Garner, was also on hand to sing "Take Me Out to the Ball Game."

Saturday was also a chance for the general public to check out the new stadium up-close. Tours of the facility were given in the morning.
