A Beaufort County man was attacked by a black bear on Sunday. Eighteen-year-old Peter Courson was walking in the woods with his dog Sissy on the edge of his Beaufort County property, when he says a black bear and two cubs came towards him. Courson says the bear got a hold of his dog and as he tried to free it, the bear knocked him to the ground. The dog did not make it. Courson suffered a gash to the head requiring several staples to hold the wound together, as well as cuts on his legs and back.
