McCrory Wants NC To Plan For Transportation 50 Years Out

Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory says he would lead the creation of a 50-year transportation plan if elected governor and restrict the political influence of Board of Transportation members.

McCrory unveiled a transportation reform platform Monday, the latest of the gubernatorial candidates to do so.

McCrory said board members would be barred from making donations to state political campaigns.

The Republican candidate also said he would end the transfer of highway funds to non-transportation uses and rework road-building formula that urban leaders argue doesn't target the most congested areas of North Carolina.

What we don't need is another plan. what we need is some action. Also we should not be taking highway money for rail and mass transportation projects (other than buses). Talking about a 50 year plan is nothing more than a "dodge" to create the impression of progress.
