Six Car Pileup

Tuesday afternoon, Pitt County Sheriff's Deputy Alfred Waldo was traveling East on Highway 33 when his car was struck by van at the intersection of 264 and Highway 33 in Pitt County. Sergeant Pitts with the State Highway Patrol says Waldo and his K-9 unit were on their way to assist with a manhunt in Beaufort County. Officials say this collision began a chain of several other accidents, involving a total of six vehicles. All injuries were non life threatening, with several people quickly treated and released, including Deputy Waldo. No charges are being filed at this time, but an investigation remains underway.
