WITN-7 First Alert Weather Update... A high wind warning remains in effect for coastal areas of Eastern Carolina until 8:00 p.m. Friday. Strong winds, sustained between 30 and 40 miles an hour with gusts up to 60 miles per hour, can be expected throughout the day. A coastal flood warning remains in effect until 8:00 a.m. Saturday, as does a high surf advisory. These warnings are for Carteret, Outer Banks Dare and Outer Banks Hyde counties, as well as Pamlico and Craven counties. The rough surf will also create a high threat of rip currents. Officials recommend beachgoers stay out of the water. The heavy rains over Eastern Carolina and southeast Virginia will continue throughout the day, tapering off late afternoon. Stay tuned to WITN-7 for the latest information.
