The Craven County Health Department is warning parents of potential lead problems at one of their elementary schools. Officials recently discovered lead paint on 10 exterior doors in the kindergarten and first grade wing of Graham A. Barden Elementary School in Havelock. School officials say they have sent letters to parents informing them of the problem. The health department will soon send out letters to parents of kindergarten kids, asking them to be tested for elevated levels of lead. In the meantime, school officials say steps will be taken to remove the lead paint from the doors.
