More than 400 people will lose their jobs in Wilson over the next 14 months, as VF Jeanswear closes its plant there. Officials say soon, everything currently done in Wilson, cutting the fabric and preparing jeans for shipment, will move to Central America, where labor costs are lower. VF Jeanswear had already reduced its workforce in Wilson by half about two years ago and closed a plant in the Bertie County town of Windsor.
