Getting fresh water to the masses is now possible thanks to a new county water system in Beaufort County. Officials have been working on this project for the last 13 years, putting down a thousand miles of waterline throughout the county which now services nearly 11,000 residents. Engineers say the new water system takes the place of well water for 90-percent of the county. U.S. Congressman G.K. Butterfield was on hand for the presentation of a $58,000,000 check from the federal government. Officials say their goal is to get the water to 100-percent of the county.
