Duke Energy says its fourth-quarter profit fell 30 percent because of discontinued operations and higher maintenance costs.
Charlotte-based Duke says today it earned 271 million dollars, or 21 cents per share, in the final three months of 2007. That's down form 387 million dollars, or 31 cents per share, during the same period in 2006.
The latest period included a loss of 133 million dollars for income tax expense from continuing operations.
Duke says revenue rose 8 percent to 3 billion dollars from 2.8 billion dollars during the same period a year earlier.
Duke Energy supplies and delivers energy to four million customers.
