Airport Open House a Soaring Success

Folks were flying high in Martin County Saturday, all part of the county airport open house.

The event only comes around every 2 years but despite mother nature not cooperating with high winds, officials say it was a huge success. There was live music, mini-planes kids could build, and some of the best cooking by the Hamilton EMS and Bear Grass Fire Department around. However, officials stress that the goal was getting kids into aviation, something that isn't that difficult anymore.

Since the weather wasn't helpful, officials say they will continue all the activities into Sunday starting at 9 a.m. all at the Martin County Airport.
