Proposal to Restrict Kids ATV Use

Video will be available shortly.

If your child enjoys riding an all terrain vehicle or ATV, it may be against the law by October first. The State Senate is now considering a bill that, if passed in it's current form, would make it illegal for any child under age 12 to ride any type of ATV. The law would allow children between the ages of 12 and 15 to ride ATVs appropriate for their age only with adult supervision. According to the North Carolina Child Fatality Task Force, 157 deaths have been blamed on ATVs between 1999 and 2004. Of those deaths, 22 were children under the age of 12.
