A Lexington, Kentucky man is recovering after his puppy chewed off
four of his toes as he slept.

Terry Smith, who lives on Bryan Avenue, is paralyzed from the waist
down and says he didn't feel a thing.

Smith's roommate, Tim Cantrell, says he noticed blood on Smith's bed
when he woke up Tuesday morning.

It appears the five-month-old pit bull mix named China, was playing with
her owner's feet and ended up taking off all the toes, except the big toe
on his left foot.

Cantrell says the dog is harmless and has never been violent in the
past.

Smith was taken to St. Joseph Hospital for treatment. Animal control
officials removed the dog from the home.

China will be in the custody of animal control officials for 10 days. After that, it is up to the owner what to do with the puppy.

JUST CUZ SOMEONE IS TYPING IN CAPS DOESN'T MEAN THEY'RE FREAKING OUT. PLEASE FIND SOMETHING BETTER TO LAUGH AT...BUT ANYWAY PIT BULLS ARE NOT THE ONLY DOGS WHO CAN ATTACK, ANY DOG CAN ATTACK. I JUST LOOKED AT AN ARTICLE ABOUT A POMERANIAN ATTACKING AND KILLING A BABY. STATISTICS SHOW THAT THERE ARE MANY MANY DIFFERENT BREEDS THAT ATTACK ANUALLY. GERMAN SHEPHERDS, CHOWS, AKITAS, ST BERNARDS, ETC ETC LITTLE DOGS BIG DOGS VERY DIFFERENT TYPES OF DOGS. THIS PUPPY DID NOT ATTACK, PUPPIES CHEW. THIS WAS JUST A WEIRD OCCURRANCE, THE GUY WAS PARALYZED AND COULDN'T FEEL THE PUPPY CHEWING. I'VE HAD PUPPIES THAT WOULD TRY TO CHEW ON MY HAND OR MY FEET, AND IT HAD TO BE TAUGHT "NO" BUT THIS GUY COULDN'T DO NOTHING CUZ HE DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS HAPPENING PEOPLE. JUST B/C IT'S A PIT BULL HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. THAT'S THE POINT THAT NEED TO BE MADE. DIFFERENT DOGS ATTACK, PIT BULLS AMONG THEM. BUT THE WAY A DOG IS RAISED HAS A LOT TO DO WITH IT.

Let's do the math: the breeds in question make up a small percentage of total breeds owned by citizens in the US. So, if 74% of total dog attacks are committed by such a small percentage, or group; then deduction and common sense leads to the ultimate conclusion that these breeds of dogs are just flat out, without question, dangerous as a pet and a menace to society. Even taking into account for mistreatment (all breeds are mistreated), the number of mistreated dogs not in the group in question is exponentially greater, gives even more factual proof as to the true nature of the breeds in question.

Actual statistics: pit bulls, Rottweilers, Presa Canarios and their mixes are responsible for 74% of attacks on people, 68% of the attacks upon children, 82% of the attacks upon adults, 65% of the deaths, and 68% of the maimings. In more than two-thirds of the cases included in the study, the life-threatening or fatal attack was apparently the first known dangerous behavior by the animal in question.------ These are actual FACTS, not EXCUSES or JUSTIFICATIONS.

"TOOO BRAD": I would advise you to take your caps lock off and stop freaking out if you want people to take you seriously instead of laughing at your expense. It actually makes you look just as ignorant as you accuse everyone else of being. Thanks. And I don't think the dog should be put down. And banning the breed from the U.S.? Please. Just give it up. Puppies chew. The man was paralyzed. There was no 'attack' in this situation. End of story.

the feet must smelled good to the dog. animals are just like human, you really don't know what they will do in the next minutes. they can be just as nice and in spilled second they can change. if a person did it you would put them in prison and what them good. give the dog a changes.
